AUDIO BITES BACK

iTunes-mp3As we enter 2016, and take a look back at 2015, here at TPC we’ve noticed a strong trend towards audio podcast production as opposed to video. A few years ago, the overwhelming demand was for video - so what’s happened?
Are we re-discovering the power of audio? Its convenience? Its cost-effectiveness?
Many of our customers also use social media tools such as Twitter to get their message out there and are asking us to produce audio pods to supplement their output. Perhaps they appreciate the fast turn-around of audio (can be edited within hours) as opposed to the extra time required for a video edit.

The rise in smartphone use has made it ludicrously simple to listen to pods on the move; most cars now have bluetooth links that enable audio from phones to be routed through. We can even access WIFI on the London underground.

Little wonder then, that there’s been a surge in audio podcast consumption:

PODCASTS ENTERING GOLDEN AGE AFTER EXPERIENCING SURGE IN GROWTH

And it seems there’s been a huge rise in numbers of people listening to Audiobooks, too...

“The past couple of years have borne witness to a surge in audiobook formats, with over 30,000 new titles being published in 2013 alone, up from just 3,073 in 2007.”

Stay tuned, folks...
